The Kenyon-Wanamingo girls basketball team had lost three straight games prior to last night's HVL Blue Division game with Pine Island and Head Coach Brent Lurken wanted that streak to come to a halt.  Boy did it ever!  The Knights were clearly focused and cranked up the defense in a 69-51 win in the Castle.  K-W's defense was tenacious forcing 12 first half turnovers and the Knights were able to cash in for 16 points off those turnovers en route to a 38-19 halftime lead.  Sophomore Mara Quam led the way with 25 points, Senior Megan Quam added 16, Senior Brittany Flom tallied 9 and Sophomore Kasey Dummer collected three threes for nine points.  Sophomore Savannah Bleese added 8.  Quam, Quam, Dummer and Emily Ashland were named the Held Bus Service Knights of the game.  Ashland had just two points but was relentless in her pursuit of Pine Island guard Noelle Langworthy.  Langworthy didn't have a single field goal when Ashland was guarding her and the Senior was coming of a school record nine three pointer performance in the Panthers last game.  Pine Island had just one player in double figures.  Sophomore Eliza Warneke had 11.  Pine Island fell to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the HVL and Kenyon-Wanamingo remained unbeaten in league play at 5-0 and is 7-4 overall.
