Jerry Lewis, sidekick to Dean Martin, actor, comedian, and businessman, passed away on Sunday at his home, surrounded by his family. This is according to a statement released by the family.

I remember watching the Jerry Lewis movies from the 1950s and 1960s era, most notably "The Nutty Professor." I really liked that movie, especially the flubber that he invented that helped the basketball team.

I especially remember the Labor Day Telethons to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Jerry Lewis was great in keeping people interested in the acts, as well as showing how much money was being raised. I wanted so much to call in and donate my parents' money, just in the hopes that he would read my name. I was too young to understand that any donation I would have been able to make, would not have been enough for nationwide recognition.

I have included here a link to follow to read more about Jerry Lewis, there are people so much more eloquent than I am, who do a better job of eulogizing him.

We will miss you Jerry.
