The Steele County Blades started the day with a 7-1 win over Blaine. The Huskies boys capped it with a 4-0 shutout of Rochester Century at Four Seasons on Saturday.

The Owatonna boys hockey squad earned their first win of the season with a 4-0 victory over Rochester Century. Kade Friedrichs scored twice. The first came shorthanded midway through the first period. Alec Holcomb scored early in the second period with an assist by Mitchell Wiese. Friedrichs added his second late in the middle period.

Tyler Wencl scored late in the third period for the final margin of victory in the 4-0 win. Kodey Kiel and Noah Scheid assisted. Goalie Jacob Dub only needed to make eight saves for the shutout win. The Huskies had 38 shots on goal. Owatonna (1-2, 1-1 in the Big Nine) plays at Rochester John Marshall on Thursday, December 3. OHS coach Josh Storm looks at JM as the preseason conference favorite.

The Steele County Blades junior team buried Blaine 7-1 on Saturday for their fifth straight win. Chase Lewis scored five goals and assisted on one of the others. The Blades out-shot the Energy 57-20 and went 3-for-5 on the power play.

Steele County (9-13-4) plays at Forest Lake on Friday, December 5, at Blaine on Saturday and back at Forest Lake on Sunday.
