Unlike last year when teams jumped right into week one of the high school football season without a scrimmage, the usual schedule is back in place this year.

Prep teams will travel to group scrimmages Saturday morning to prepare for their opening week games on September 1 or 2. Last year the season started early due to the availability of TCF Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota for the Prep Bowl. This year the semifinals and title games will be held at the new U.S. Bank Stadium and prep teams are back on their usual schedule.

Saturday's scrimmage for Owatonna matches up the Huskies with Class 6A teams at Lakeville South High School. OHS is a 5A school. Action begins at 9AM. Triton will host several teams including NRHEG at the Snake Pit. Medford goes to Pine Island and Blooming Prairie travels to Maple River.

The Cobras get an early start on the season with their opener against Kasson-Mantorville on Thursday, September 1. Kickoff is at 7:15PM with coverage on KDHL AM 920.

Friday, September 2, is opening night for the other KRFO-area teams. Owatonna hosts Mankato West on KRFO AM 1390. Blooming Prairie goes to Rushford-Peterson with the action on Kat Kountry 105. NRHEG will entertain Mayer-Lutheran and Medford goes to Lewiston-Altura.

KRFO Radio presents the "High School Coaches Show" each Saturday morning at 9AM with the weekly recap from the local coaches.
