The high school fall sports season has arrived. Some districts even held a midnight madness practice this morning.

After the odd scenario last year where football teams were already into their preparations for game one a this point, Monday marks the first day of practice for all fall sports. Last year football started early due to the availability of TCF Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota for the Prep Bowl. This year teams are playing for the opportunity to go to US Bank Stadium.

Football teams will end their second week of practice with scrimmages on Saturday, August 27. Owatonna will go to Lakeville South that morning. The Huskies open their season hosting Mankato West on Friday, September 2. Triton gets an early start with a home game against Kasson-Mantorville on Thursday, September 1. The next day Blooming Prairie plays at Rushford-Peterson on Kat Kountry 105, NRHEG hosts Mayer-Lutheran and Medford travels to Lewiston-Altura.

The first varsity teams in action for Owatonna will be girls tennis and boys cross country on Monday, August 22. Volleyball, boys soccer and girls cross country for the Huskies begin on Thursday, August 25. Girls soccer opens its season Saturday, August 27, and girls swimming on Thursday, September 1.

Owatonna High School hosts their parent and athlete meeting Monday night at 6PM in the auditorium. Activity tickets are now available at all Owatonna schools.

Blooming Prairie volleyball plays its first varsity match Thursday, August 25. Medford opens Monday, August 29. NRHEG and Triton play matches the next night.

Soccer is new for Triton this fall. They have co-oped with Kenyon-Wanamingo and will play a junior varsity-only schedule.
