Has the ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Mystery Villain Been Revealed?

Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder has been very defensive over his decision to reveal Doomsday in the most recent trailer. While many fans have felt that the trailer gave away too much information, Snyder says it doesn’t actually give away as much as you might think and that Doomsday, while an important part of the film, isn’t alone. In fact, “there’s a bigger enemy” to fight. We know Lex Luthor and Doomsday will cause problems for our heroic triumvirate of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, but who is this mysterious DC villain that could cause even bigger problems?

If you thought the Batman vs. Superman trailer was loaded up with spoilers, you might want to abandon post right now because this is getting into information that has not been previously revealed in any official material. What we’re about to talk about is a MAJOR SPOILER for both Batman vs. Superman and presumably Justice League as well.

According to Latino Review, Batman vs. Superman will also introduce another classic Superman villain for our heroes to battle: Bizarro. If this seems unlikely, the site is reporting that this is not a “hot rumor” of the week, but they have confirmed his appearance and that he “WILL” (emphasis theirs) be in the movie.

While it seems odd to frontload Batman vs. Superman with so many villains (all of them curiously Superman villains), it does sort of make sense given what we know about Batman vs. Superman so far. In the film, Lex Luthor has acquired the body of General Zod and is using his Kryptonian DNA for experiments; experiments that create the monster known as Doomsday. But, what if, as one of Luthor’s additional DNA experiments (possibly with Superman’s blood as a result of his battle with Batman), he were able to create a version of Bizarro? Luthor tries to clone Superman for his own nefarious purposes and it turns out horribly wrong?

Latino Review also notes that Bizarro’s introduction is a set-up to Justice League, so it’s unclear exactly how much he’ll be in the film. This could be the post-credits scene for all we know, or it could be a major part of the third act. This report claims there was a “4th act” added to the film that wasn’t in the original shooting script. Could this be it?

Batman vs. Superman opens in theaters on March 25.
