If the weather cooperates, very soon you will see combines in many fields. In fact Monday afternoon I did see one farmer combining soybeans. The farmer just did the end of one field and quit so I suspect the beans were not quite ready yet. I have heard of a few fields of beans that were harvested, but many bean fields need a few more warm, dry days before they will be dry enough to harvest. I also heard that they were very early group 1.4 beans and they were running in the 60-plus bushels an acre!

The frustrating part is you know you have a very good crop in the field and the weather does not cooperate! After today the forecast is calling for multiple inches of rain through Friday. Unfortunately the soil is already saturated because of all the rain we have received. All you can do is take a deep breath, be patient and, of course, make sure all your equipment and bins are ready so when the weather does cooperate you can go!
