It is that date, the date to be aware of everything, especially when you a) have children and/or b) come from a family of practical jokers. I went looking for the history of April Fool's Day, and why we celebrate it, and I could not find any one source that shows the main reason. Whatever the reason, today can be a fun and lighthearted day, as long as you prank within reason.

I am sure you have heard the really mean pranks, and some people really take it to extremes. I am all for a good prank, but, pretending to be very ill, or very hurt, not a good idea. And, unless you really are expecting, today is not the day to announce a pregnancy.

My girls have tried to get me good over the years, and these are the pranks that I enjoy. Telling me I have a spider in my hair, or there is one on the wall, just to watch me jump is pretty funny. As explanation, I am terrified of spiders, but very aware of the date, so this one is harmless. My older daughter also once tried to put plastic wrap on the toilet seat. Thankfully, she was laughing so hard, I figured it out and there was no mess to clean up.

If you are looking for some good ideas, as well as being family friendly, I found a great list on Today.com. There are ideas from the time your kids get up to the time they go to bed, like freezing their cereal bowls the night before, or giving them a glass of jello instead of juice.

I hope you have a great time celebrating April Fool's Day with some really good pranks, either played by you, or on you. If you have any good ideas, please share them, I do enjoy a good prank.
