The Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation based in Owatonna is now accepting applications for its Small Town Grants Program. Requests of up to $10,000 will be considered. This is open to towns in the Foundation's 20 county region with a population of 5,000 or less.

Past Small Town Grant awardees have used the money for items such as trail systems, community gardens, a multi-cultural festival and other projects such as town brand identity and marketing approaches to attract new residents. Nonprofit organizations and units or agencies of local, state and federal government are encouraged to apply.

Applications are due by August 31, 2018. Awardees will be notified by October 11, 2018.  Get further details at the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation web site or call Jennifer at (507)-214-7040.
