Linda Breyer, the new head of Grandparents for Education, and volunteer Mary Ann Higgins were guests on AM 1390's Talk of the Town. Linda grew up in Blooming Prairie and has been with the group for about six years and has been its leader for about five months. The group has about 100 volunteers and has set a goal of adding at least 20 more volunteers for this school year.

As a volunteer, even one hour a school year would be appreciated. Duties may include helping students with reading or math or helping out on field trips or supervising on play day. One area that would really be appreciated would be a volunteer who could help students with math, and a bilingual volunteer would also be a great help.

Those interested in finding out more may contact Breyer at (507) 390-4468.

Grandparents for Education will have a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, October 16, from 8AM to noon at the Owatonna Eagles. There will also be a silent auction.
