Defending Section 1A champ Goodhue held Blooming Prairie to one of their lowest point totals of the season, beating the Awesome Blossoms 38-33 in a subsection semifinal Tuesday at the Mayo Civic Auditorium.

After trailing 8-4 early, Goodhue went on a 17-5 run to end the first half for a 21-13 lead. Blooming Prairie hit just three field goals in the first half. Two of them were three-pointers from senior Madison Worke while building their initial lead. The Wildcats converted a few turnovers into fast break baskets. Each team had more than 20 turnovers in the game.

Blooming Prairie rallied in the second half to take a one-point lead on a couple of occasions late in the game. But turnovers continued to plague the team. A steal by Goodhue sophomore McKenzie Ryan in the closing minute led to free throws that gave the Wildcats a two-possession lead. Senior Shelby Hinsch led Goodhue with 12 points. Worke's 17 topped the Awesome Blossoms' ledger. Senior Taylor Hagen added 12.
