Goodhue scored a touchdown early in the fourth quarter and held on for a 19-14 win over Blooming Prairie in the Section 1A title game at Rochester Regional Sports Stadium Saturday. The top-seeded and unbeaten Wildcats face Mayer-Lutheran Saturday November 11 in the state quarterfinals at Shakopee High School. Blooming Prairie's season ends with an 8-3 record.

Goodhue opened the scoring with a first-quarter field goal and added a touchdown in the second quarter for a 10-0 lead. Awesome Blossom quarterback Seth Peterson connected with Gabe Hagen to pull within 10-7, but the Wildcats tacked on another field goal before halftime for a 13-7 lead at the break.

BP went ahead 14-13 in the third on Peterson's scoring pass to Tim Wolf. Goodhue finished off a drive early in the fourth quarter with a touchdown to end the scoring with their 19-14 lead.

The other Section 1 teams to advance to state include Owatonna, who beat Rochester Century 37-0 Friday for the 1-5A title. Defending state champ Caledonia pulled away from Triton in the second half of the 1AA championship game for a 35-7 win, ending the three-decade coaching career of the Cobras' Don Henderson. Winona returns to state with a 34-14 victory over Kasson-Mantorville for the 1-4A title. Rochester Lourdes captured the 1-3A title with a 35-14 win over Plainview-Elgin-Millville and Spring Grove will carry the nine-man banner for the section with their 36-35 win over Cleveland.
