KRFO/Kat Kountry, along with other local businesses, sponsored competitors in Smokin' In Steele BBQ competition and that meant we were able to taste test some of the food with a goody, too.

There was a picnic atmosphere with the potato salad, baked beans and a roll to go along with the BBQ food.

We were able to taste BBQ chicken, ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Everything was really good. Our table agreed the chicken was the best. The ribs had a slight kick, luckily there was a bottle of mild BBQ sauce on the table to calm that.

The dessert was a great success. Some cheesecake in a cup with strawberries.

Today, stop by the Steele County fairgrounds to check out some good BBQ. Plus there will be music and lots of it. To get into the Beer Garden, the admission is $10. Later today, a Car and Truck Show is planned 4:30-7:30PM, and it will include hot rods and big rigs.

By the way, maybe you noticed many bikes in a group around town, that was part of the family bike cruise. What a good morning for that.

On Sunday a pancake breakfast is planned to begin at 8AM.

Smokin' In Steele is presented by Knights of Columbus Council 945. The proceeds from the event will benefit Special Olympics Minnesota, Owatonna.
