From the Heart Walk Run is Saturday

It's the ninth annual From the Heart 5K Run/Walk this Saturday, May 6, at Lake Kohlmier. The run/walk begins at 8AM with the awards ceremony at 10:30AM. In addition to the 5K run/walk there will be a half marathon, half marathon relay and a kids fun run.

There are about 800 people registered, with a goal of 1,000 participants this year due to the fact that the event will benefit four area families. You can register at the From the Heart website. The recipients this year are: Nick Larson, Matt Ratzloff, Marcy Jo Fenske and Teri Grose. There will be a balloon release before the race along with other activities. There will be a shuttle bus starting at 7AM from the Federated Insurance parking lot.

Nonrunners can help out by attending the spaghetti supper Friday, May 5, at Owatonna Junior High. Serving is from 4:30-8PM, along with a silent auction and bake sale. Take out will be available.There will also be a bone marrow booth on Friday night where you can learn more about donating bone marrow or even sign up to be a donor, should you wish.
