Saturday, January 19 will be a Community Fire Protection Day in Owatonna. The Owatonna Fire Department will be at Olympic Fire Protection on State Avenue NW Owatonna from 9-1PM that date. Members of the fire department will provide live training on how to properly use a fire extinguisher. The fire department will also provide free batteries that can be used in your battery powered smoke detectors.

The American Red Cross will be there as well. The Red Cross and Owatonna Fire Department will have a signup sheet for qualified homes to receive three free battery powered smoke detectors.Qualification will be based on the age of the home. A discussion on fire sprinkler systems will be offered as well.

There will also be fire safety tips and you may also get your fire extinguisher serviced at a reduced rate.
