The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reminds sportsmen that their fishing, hunting and trapping licenses for 2017 expire on Wednesday, February 28. 2018 licenses  are on sale now online at the DNR web site. You may also purchase them wherever licenses are sold. If you purchase online via a smartphone you'll receive a text message or email that will serve as proof of a valid license. You can print this out. Doing it this way you will not get the traditional paper license. The new fishing licenses take effect on Thursday, March 1.

The license fees for 2018 increase by $3 for a resident individual fishing licenses and the same increase applies to deer hunting, sports and lifetime licenses.

Young folks that would like to learn how to fly fish will have the opportunity from the evening of Friday, April 27 till afternoon on the 29th near Lanesboro. Youth between the ages of 11 to 17 along with adults with less than 5 hours of fly-fishing experience are invited to attend this workshop. The fee is $130.
