The first ‘Fault in Our Stars‘ trailer has arrived, and if you’re the emotionally vulnerable type, you may want to grab some tissues. Shailene Woodley seems to be making a career out of playing adorable, down-to-earth and highly relatable high school girls who get super real with teen boys, teaching them lessons about life and love — but, like, in a really genuine, sweet, and heartbreaking way. It’s like ‘The Spectacular Now,’ but replace alcoholism with terminal illness.Based on the novel of the same name by John Green, the film follows Hazel Grace (Woodley), a teen who meets and falls for Gus (Ansel Elgort) at a cancer support group. Hazel’s time on Earth seems to be limited by her illness. Although she seems to think her life is less than extraordinary, Gus is determined to make her see otherwise.
The official synopsis:
Hazel (Shailene Woodley) and Gus (Ansel Elgort) are two extraordinary teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them — and us — on an unforgettable journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous, given that they met and fell in love at a cancer support group. THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, based upon the number-one bestselling novel by John Green, explores the funny, thrilling and tragic business of being alive and in love.
‘The Fault in Our Stars’ also stars Laura Dern, Willem Dafoe, Mike Birbiglia and Sam Trammell, and hits theaters (and your heart, like a ton of bricks) on June 6.
