Rushford, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred Sunday morning in Fillmore County.

The crash report says the deadly incident was reported just after 8:30 am on Highway 43 just south of Rushford. The victim, 64-year-old Richard Engelhart of Cresco Iowa was driving north on Highway 43 when his car was hit by a southbound vehicle that had slid out of control into his path.

The State Patrol says the other driver, 21-year-old Abbey Jo Schnell of Spring Grove, lost control when her car drifted onto the right shoulder and she apparently overcorrected while steering back onto the pavement. The fatal collision caused her vehicle to flip and then crash down an embankment near the intersection with Fillmore County Road 106.

Schnell was transported to the hospital in Winona for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The State Patrol has not yet released the name of the man killed in the collision.
