The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota announced recently the Faribault Main Street program was selected as one of three communities in the state to receive a $15,000 grant to work with creatives in the Faribault area.  Main Street officials say the community is, "lucky to have a wonderful arts community and this project will be a fantastic opportunity to highlight the skills of local artists, and inspire more."

There are not too many communities the size of Faribault with a facility like the Paradise Center for the Arts .  Downtown Faribault features a number of murals, galleries, shops and ornate historical architectural elements.  The projects will be completed and on display over the summer.

According to a news release from Faribault Main Street the program is a project of the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota in partnership with the Springboard for the Arts and with support from the Bush Foundation.  "All parties are excited to launch Artists on Main Street, a pilot initiative to explore how the arts help address the challenges affecting downtown communities today."

The news release continues, "The Faribault Main Street program is incredibly excited for local artists, crafters, and creatives to have the opportunity to be part of Artists on Main Street."

A Creative Placemaking Workshop will be held Saturday, April 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of Buckham Memorial Library.  Eligibility for funding requires participants to attend the workshop, live or work in the Faribault area or Rice County.
