The Steele County Historical Society will feature "County Fair" activities for its childrens' programming on Thursday August 7 at the Village of Yesteryear.

The Steele County Historical Society (SCHS) is pleased to announce children’s programming for Thursday, August 7th at 9 a.m. and at 6:30 p.m. at the Village of Yesteryear located at 1448 Austin Road, Owatonna.

The History Detectives (pre-school age children) will meet at 9 am at the Village of Yesteryear. Since August is “Fair Month” in Steele County, the children will do carnival games; judge a cookie contest and have the opportunity to do a simulated pie eating contest and other Fair related activities along with learning some interesting historical facts in anticipation of the upcoming Steele County Fair. The Time Travelers (children in grades K-6) will meet at 6:30 pm at the Village and will also enjoy Fair related activities that evening.

“We are thrilled to have another children’s opportunity for August. With the love we all have for the upcoming Fair, we thought it would be fun to focus our children’s activities on that for the month of August.  It is wonderful for the children to have fun and experience history.” said Laura Resler, SCHS Director.

Children’s programs are offered on the first Thursday of each month. Watch for more information on topics for upcoming programs.

The History Center is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am until 4 pm, Thursdays from 10 am until 8 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am until 3 pm. For more information, please call our office at 507-451-1420 and ask for Laura.
