On Friday, July 31, at 6PM, the Lonsdale Veterans Memorial Task Force will host a dedication ceremony to commemorate the newly constructed Veterans Memorial at the Lonsdale Veterans Memorial Park & Plaza, 133 N. Main St., Lonsdale, MN 55046.

The dedication ceremony will be a wonderful time to honor, respect and remember U.S. military veterans, to thank current military service members, and to celebrate the grand opening of the new Veterans Memorial Park. Everyone is welcome to attend the dedication ceremony, featuring distinguished speaker Maj. Gen. Richard C. Nash of the Minnesota National Guard. The Veterans Memorial Task Force would like to thank the more than 200 individuals, families, businesses, organizations and governmental entities for donating more than $200,000 over the past two years to make the project possible. Thank you!

Site features:

  • 6.6 ton five-prong black granite centerpiece monument
  • 500 pound bronze eagle
  • 1,000 pound fallen soldier monument
  • 150 engraved granite pavers (recognizing military service members)
  • 3 lighted flags (U.S. – 40 feet tall, Minnesota – 35 feet tall, POW - 35 feet tall)
  • 7 black plaza benches and 2 aluminum ornamental fence sections
  • Specialized concrete with a military star integrated into the design
  • Featuring new Genius water conservation irrigation technology from IrriGreen

Event invitation and information:

  • Everyone is welcome to attend the dedication ceremony from 6-7PM.
  • After the ceremony, all are invited to the American Legion for free pulled pork sandwiches and chips
  • Paver forms and a donation box will be available at the Veterans Memorial Park and American Legion
  • Casual dress is requested and military uniforms/attire is optional
  • Please bring a lawn chair as seating will be limited at the site
  • In case of heavy rain or sever weather, the event will be moved to the American Legion, 115 SecondAve. N.W.
