Blooming Prairie will be hosting  a Bike and Safety Bicycling Traffic Skills 101 class on Friday, May 8 from 5:30-8:30PM and Saturday, May 9 from 9AM-3PM. The classes take place at City Hall, 138 Hwy. Ave. S.

The traffic skills course will cover bicycle safety checks, fixing a flat, on-bike skills and crash avoidance techniques. The class will also include a student manual.

This is recommended for adults and children above 14. The course will prepare cyclists for a full understanding of vehicular cycling.

  • The cost is $10 for Saturday's lunch. You may bring a meal Friday night.
  • The class is FREE thanks to SHIP - the Statewide Health Improvement Program through Steele County Public Health.
  • Both dates must be attended.
  • A bicycle and a helmet are required.
  • Dress comfortably and be prepared for two 4-6 mile rides on Saturday.
