Duck Hunting Season Opens Saturday
Minnesota's Waterfowl Hunting season opens on Saturday, a half hour before sunrise. According to Steve Cordts with the Department of Natural Resources, breeding duck numbers have been good in North America and Minnesota, so the numbers for hunting should be pretty good this year. He goes on to say that wetland habitat conditions and wild rice lakes are in pretty good shape, and the Canada goose populations are up as well.
As far as the season goes, the structure is pretty much the same. The season will be open for 60 days in the north, central and south waterfowl zones, with different closure dates in each zone. The daily bag limit remains six per day.
Please remember to be safe while hunting, be careful with your firearms and alcohol and guns don't mix. Make it a successful and safe hunting season this year.
