Counting Train Cars as They Go By

Do you count train cars as they go by? I still try to do that, sometimes successfully ... other times, I forget the number or forget which train car I last counted. I think I have figured out a way to count train cars, and so far it seems to work. I put up a finger for each 10 cars. It becomes only a small issue with trains of more than 100 cars.

I also have to remember to look farther up the line, not directly in front when I am counting, so that I don't get motion sickness.

Now, what about all that graffiti? For one thing, wow, are the letters big. Second thing, how do they put them in a straight line? I seem to write at an angle if there are no lines. I sort of wonder about the meaning behind it.
