A subject that came up years ago is back on the front burner on the fairgrounds in Owatonna. The size of the race track is likely to be reduced in the near future.

The project has been pushed back due to the need for a new building after a roof collapse during a snow storm a few years ago. The resulting new building, the Allan R. Radel Livestock Pavilion, made its debut at the 2014 fair.

Now, back to the race track, which has sat mostly idle for several years. The full track is a half mile and hasn't been used for a number of years. The inner oval is all that is needed for the Enduro & Demolition Derby that occur during the fair. Steele County Fair Manager Jim Gleason spoke with KRFO about the future of the race track.
