The Owatonna Arts Center, 435 Garden View Lane, exhibit this month coincides with National Youth Art Month. Owatonna K-12 students have been studying a variety of art styles and now have them on display at the Owatonna Arts Center.

Last night they had an artist reception, with some students singing and playing instruments.

The students' art display has a lot of variety -- pencil drawings of Michael Jackson in a dance pose, Slash, Muhammad Ali and themselves.

Some of the art was from a particular piece that the students made their own.

The art classes also studied stained glass (which was made from paper) and texture, and they worked with crayons, chalk and watercolors. Clay was used to make masks, bowls and totem poles.

The students made sculptures out of paper. They worked with markers and layers and I did recognize a few Picasso styles.

In one area, a tree was made and the students continued the branches so it was one big art project.

It was all very good and such variety. The Owatonna K-12 Art exhibit at the Owatonna Arts Center will go through the 26th. Gallery hours are 1-5PM Tuesday through Sunday, closed on Mondays.
