The Cannon Falls Bombers used an impressive block to secure a 3-0 win over the Triton Cobras Thursday night in the Hangar.  Scores were 25-16, 25-20, 25-19 in the Homecoming week match.  The Hustad sisters led the block, 6'0 junior Shayla and 6'0 freshman Halle.  I asked girls basketball Head Coach Samantha McCamy if they played basketball and she dejectedly said,"No."

The Bomber Bowen sisters, Molly and McKayla led the offensive attack with 8 kills each, Halle Hustad tallied 7 kills and Shayla Hustad collected 4 ace blocks.  5'4 freshman setter Jaci Winchell spotted 4 ace serves and had 16 assists.  Senior setter Rachel Huseth had 15 assists.  5'2 senior libero Riley Meyers led the team with 14 digs and senior Molly Bowen had 11 digs. Sophomore Makayla Bowen added 2 ace serves and 5 digs.

Triton jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first set but fell 25-16.  They led early in the second set and lost 25-20.  Trailed early in the final set and couldn't generate enough offense due to a effective Cannon Falls block.  Senior Nell Graham led the Cobras offense and defense with 9 kills and 11 digs.  I had Triton with 18 total kills unofficially and Cannon Falls had  32 total kills in the three sets.

The Cobras came into the match with a two match winning streak and proved they have improved by getting a set victory over top ranked Stewartville this season.  They are now 10-7 overall and 2-2 in the Hiawatha Valley League.  Cannon Falls is now 3-0 in the conference and 9-10 overall.

The Bombers are in action next Thursday at Zumbrota-Mazeppa.  Then they host a tournament next weekend before closing out their season October 9 at home against Stewartville, October 11 in the Hangar against Goodhue and October 16 at Rochester Lourdes.

The Cobras host Zumbrota-Mazeppa Tuesday then host Lake City next Thursday before going to Kenyon-Wanamingo October 9th and hosting Kasson-Mantorville October 11th.  Triton finishes the regular season at Byron October 16th.
