Owatonna High School sophomore running back Jason Williamson set a school record and reached a milestone Friday at New Prague. But he knows who is really responsible for all those yards.

Williamson carried the ball 47 times in Owatonna's 29-16 win, breaking the mark held by Aaron Peterson in a state tournament win over Mankato West in 2012. Williamson also surpassed 1,000 yards for the season with his 265-yard effort. The only other sophomores to reach that milestone in school history are Cory Urban and Collin Wencl.

Williamson is quick to credit the offensive line for creating the running lanes that have led to a big year for him and a 5-2 record for the team. Senior Josh Burns centers the offensive line. He was a guard in the past and went through a crash course of learning the position in the off season. There's more to it than just snapping the ball. He has to call out defensive formations and work with the other linemen on having the play blocked correctly.

Guards include seniors Nate Deason and Darik Elstad. Tackles have included senior Chandler Buckhalter and juniors Kadyn Mulert and Terrell Conner. Senior Ethan Dekam frequently is the tight end.

Owatonna seems to have the number one seed in the section wrapped going into their final regular season game at Rochester Century on Wednesday night at 7PM on KRFO AM 1390. A win at Century would give the Huskies an unbeaten 5-0 record in the Red Division of the Big Southeast District.
