I only saw them play in two matches, but the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown volleyball team left me with a great impression of teamwork, determination and heart. I first watched them play St. Clair and I got concerned when St. Clair won the first set 26-24. I have seen other teams fold after a first set like this. The Buccaneers won the next three sets to advance to their first section championship.

Saturday night they showed how determined they were to get to their first state tournament. They had a very tough first set and it took the wind out of Mayer Lutheran's sails to win three in a row to get to the tournament at the Xcel Energy Center on Thursday. They will face Ada-Borup at 3PM and, of course, we will have coverage on KDHL.

There is a chance they could have a rematch with Bethlehem Academy, also from the Gopher Conference, sometime during the tournament. And that would be really cool, especially if it's for the state title. But one match at a time.
