Blooming Prairie Girls Open Playoffs at Home Thursday

The Section 1A, West Subsection quarterfinals are Thursday night. Blooming Prairie hosts Southland at 7PM. Meanwhile the Owatonna girls wrap up their regular season Thursday.

Blooming Prairie's girls basketball team is in a loaded subsection, with a pair of top-five ranked teams. The Awesome Blossoms host Southland in a 7PM game on Thursday. Blooming Prairie (14-10) is the No. 3 seed. They have lost four in a row, while the Rebels (8-14) have dropped five of their last six games. BP beat Southland 53-47 on December 15.

No. 5A Lyle / Pacelli is the second seed and hosts Faribault Bethlehem Academy Thursday at 7PM on Power 96 radio. The other subsection games include No. 1A Goodhue, the top seed, hosting LeRoy-Ostrander and Randolph is at Grand Meadow.

The Triton girls open the Section 1AA playoffs on the road Thursday at 7PM at top seed Plaineview-Elgin-Millville, who is the No. 1-ranked team in the state.

Owatonna's girls play their final game of the regular season Thursday, entertaining Mankato East at 7:30PM on KRFO AM 1390. It's senior night for Owatonna.

Other local action includes the Owatonna boys swimming team going to the Rec Center in Rochester for the preliminaries of the Section 1AA meet.
