The section football playoffs begin Tuesday. Owatonna has a bye. Blooming Prairie, NRHEG and Triton open at home. Medford is on the road.

The Tigers go to No. 6 Kenyon-Wanamingo for a 7PM kickoff on KDHL AM 920. The Knights won the week five meeting 47-0. Another quarterfinal match-up in Section 2AA is WEM at NRHEG. The No. 3 seed Panthers beat the Buccaneers 30-22 in week three. NRHEG is ranked No. 8 in the final Associated Press poll. The other side of the bracket features Le Sueur-Henderson at top seed Maple River and Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial at defending section champ Blue Earth Area.

Blooming Prairie begins the postseason with a home game against Southland at 7PM on Kat Kountry 105FM in Section 1A. Their last head-to-head game was the section final in 2011, which was won by Blooming Prairie. Top seed and state-ranked Rushford-Peterson hosts Kingsland on Tuesday. Hayfield plays at Fillmore Central and Wabasha-Kellog goes to defending section champ Goodhue.

Caledonia is king of Section 1AA as the defending state champion and top-rated team in the state. The Warriors host Winona Cotter in the quarterfinals. Triton is on the other side of the bracket as the three seed and will host Chatfield at the Snake Pit on Tuesday. The Cobras beat the Gophers 28-19 in week five. The other quarterfinals are Lewiston-Altura at St. Charles and Dover-Eyota at Zumbrota-Mazeppa.

Owatonna is the top seed in Section 1-5A and has a first round bye. They will host the winner of the Austin at Rochester John Marshall game. Century plays at Mayo on Tuesday. The winner travels to Northfield for Saturday's semifinals.

In Section 1-4A Winona is the top seed and gets a bye in the quarterfinals. The Winhawks will play the winner of the Albert Lea at Byron game. Defending section champ Stewartville waits for the Red Wing at Kasson-Mantorville winner.

Mankato West has the second seed in Section 2-5A behind Chanhassen. First round games are New Prague at Waconia and Bloomington Jefferson at Chaska.

Faribault goes on the road in Section 2-4A to play Big Southeast rival Mankato East on Power 96 radio. The Cougars topped the Falcons 20-12 in week four. The winner goes to top seed Marshall on Saturday. New Ulm is at Waseca on Tuesday and the winner goes to Hutchinson for the semifinals.

In Section 1AAA, No. 3 Rochester Lourdes is the top seed and has a first round pass. The quarterfinals are Pine Island at defending section champ Tri-City United, LaCrescent at Cannon Falls and Lake City at Plainview-Elgin-Millville.
