Help the Steele County Blades Junior Hockey team "Stick it to Cancer" on Friday, Jan. 16 vs. Rochester at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna.

The Steele County Blades will host a special night of hockey, and much more, as they honor longtime rink announcer and Blades board member Pete Kalan.

Steele County will battle the first-place Rochester Ice Hawks that night at 7 p.m. in Minnesota Junior Hockey League divisional play. It is a Federated Insurance night, with a ceremonial puck drop. Sparetime Entertainment presents pulled pork sandwiches and beer for sale.

There will be a post-game Meet the Blades event with free hot cocoa and cookies, giveaways and autographs.

This coming weekend, the Blades play at the Dells Ducks Friday through Sunday.

Steele County beat Ironwood 6-1 on Jan. 4. Jacob Shannon scored four goals in the game. Blades coach Nick Adamek spoke with KRFO's Roy Koenig:
