Owatonna baseball wrapped up at least a share of the Big Nine title on Monday with a 4-3 win at Mankato West. The Huskies can clinch the outright title Tuesday at Mankato East.

The Huskies are 15-2 in the conference after the rain-soaked victory at Franklin Rogers Field in Mankato. Tuesday's game at East starts at 4:00. The Huskies blanked the Cougars 10-0. Rochester JM is 13-3 in the Big Nine with games to play against Faribault and Albert Lea. The Rockets will play both of those games on Tuesday...both on the road...in two different cities. Playoffs begin later this week in section 1AAA baseball.

OHS girls golf won the rain-shortened Cannon Falls Invitational on Monday.

Huskies boys golf finished third at Alexandria. Peter Jones was the medalist.

Owatonna boys lacrosse lost to Rochester Mayo 10-3.

AREA SPORTS RESULTS FROM MONDAY MAY 19

Blooming Prairie softball (the defending state A champs) rallied from behind to beat Alden Conger 9-8 in their playoff opener. The Blossoms go to top seed Hayfield Wednesday.

Blooming Prairie boys & girls golf both advanced to the section tournament with top two finishes in the subsection on Monday. The girls were first with 429. BP boys were second behind Hayfield, with Victor Peterson capturing medalist honors.
