Fire officials are investigating the fire at Tink Larson baseball field in Waseca as a case of arson, according to several media sources including kare11.com

The structure that stood since 1938 burned down on April 6. Hundreds of Waseca residents, including the field's namesake, watched helplessly that night. Firefighters from Waseca, Owatonna and Janesville responded quickly to battle the blaze.

Officials are interviewing people who were at the field before or after the fire. The media report doesn't specify if there is a suspect. Waseca police and the state fire marshal's office are asking for information from the public. Anyone can remain anonymous and contact the arson hotline at (800) 723-2020. Up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to a conviction.

Losses included the grandstand and its roof, the concession stand and clubhouse items, and field equipment. The public can assist in raising money to replace items that aren't covered by insurance.

Larson is a member of numerous halls of fame after coaching all levels of Waseca baseball over the years. Hope remains that games can still be played at the field this year.
