Deer hunters may apply now to be part of River Bend Nature Center’s deer management hunt in November. The hunt is archery-only. Archers can obtain an application by downloading it and accompanying materials from River Bend’s website at rbnc.org, by visiting River Bend’s office during business hours, or by emailing deerhunt@rbnc.org. Applicants must be current members of River Bend Nature Center (applicants may join at rbnc.org). The application deadline is Sept. 14 and all hunters will be notified by Sept. 18 whether they have been selected for the hunt.

The 2015 hunt will be the seventh at River Bend. Despite successful past hunts, River Bend staff say the deer population continues to exceed the center's desired herd size to maintain diversity of wildlife.

The hunt, which will be from Nov. 7-10, will be open only to selected hunters. Hunters must purchase a license, a sex deer tag and a bonus earn-a-buck tag from the Department of Natural Resources. The also must attend an orientation session at 6PM Oct. 14 at River Bend.

For more information about the hunt, please contact River Bend’s Education Coordinator Kaytlan Moeller at (507) 332-7151.
