The Dakota County Sheriff's office and the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley are investigating an animal cruelty complaint in Rural Farmington.

When authorities executed a search warrant they found 100 cats, only 40 of them were alive, five live dogs and one dead rabbit. A farm hog and a guinea pig were also found.

Authorities arrested Caycee Lynn Bregel. She was reportedly caring for the animals.

Keith Streff, a senior humane agent with the Animal Humane Society told KSTP in their report that the individual leasing the home also owns and operates an animal rescue.

The cats were found in shallow graves, a garage and in a freezer.

The matter remains under investigation.
