Fall means Football Season, and what a great season it has been. This past weekend was a great weekend for several football teams. Owatonna Huskies won 63-28 over Mayo; Blooming Prairie had a shutout over Southland, 56-0; NRHEG also had a shutout over LeSueur, 49-0; and Faribault pulled a win over Kasson, 26-14.

High School Football wasn't the only game in town over the weekend though. For several weeks Special Olympic athletes and Unified Partners were practicing for the end of their season, with State Unified Flag Football Games held in Woodbury this past weekend. Anyone who knows me knows how involved I am with Special Olympics, so it should come as no surprise that I was there for most of the tournament.

There were three teams represented from Owatonna Area Special Olympics, and I got to see all of them play. It was all football all weekend, and all of the teams there played so well, and with such enthusiasm. The results from Owatonna's Teams; Blue team won 4th place, Silver team won 2nd place, and Black team won 4th, all in their own divisions.

It was just so great to see the good sportsmanship and the teams playing so well together. For more information about Unified sports, or Special Olympics in MN, click here.

The only downside to the weekend, the Vikings were not able to recreate the "Minneapolis Miracle."
