On a day where new record high temperatures were set around a large portion of Minnesota, the Faribault community gathered for the 149th Memorial Day observation on Monday.

You can listen to the radio broadcast below.

The ceremony honored honored three local veterans: Combat Veteran Gerald LeMieux and Grand Marshals Vicki and Myles McDowell.

Participating in the parade were the Bethlehem Academy and Faribault High School bands and they also performed at the programs. In addition were some Faribault city councilors, Faribault fire fighters and Police officers, the Rice County Saddle Club, classic cars enthusiasts and the Scouts.

Gordy Kosfeld from KDHL/Power96 kept the program moving along and read the poem In Flanders Field. He also gave this reminder. 72,000 are missing yet from foreign wars. That's more than Rice County's Population.
