The University of Minnesota Extension has a series of meetings planned this month to help folks determine a fair and profitable farm rental agreement. Record corn and soybean prices along with record farm land values is now a thing of that past, at least for now. Corn and soybean prices have been lower in 2017.

Topics to be covered at the meetings will include local historic and projected farmland rental rate trends along with current farm land values and sales. There will be worksheets that will examine 2018 costs and what is affordable rent that a farmer will be able to pay in 2018.

Meetings in our area begin on Monday, November 6 at 9:30AM at the Southern Research and Outreach Center outside of Waseca.

There will also be a meeting on Friday, November 17 at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds in Albert Lea.

The Rice County Fairgrounds 4-H Building will be the setting for a morning meeting in Faribault on Thursday, November 30. That's also the date for the Owatonna meeting which will be in the afternoon in the Steele County Community Center.
