We don't want to rain on the Morristown Dam Days Celebration on Friday, but the National Weather Service says Friday could be a bumpy day and evening around our part of the state.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Thursday night into Friday morning. If we get the sun out a little on Friday and generate some heat, there is a good possibility we could see some severe weather. The main threat will be damaging winds, large hail and heavy downpours of rain. There is also a small threat for tornadoes.

Skywarn spotters could be needed tomorrow and tomorrow night.

Last year was the first year in the history of the Dam Days parade that it rained during the parade. Usually it's just before or just after.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation
