Farmamerica just outside Waseca will be putting on their Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 10, from 10AM to 4PM. There will be free admission.

Farm equipment from three eras will be demonstrated that day. They'll start with the hand- and horse-powered equipment from the 1800s, then proceed to the tractors and motorized machinery and wrap up with precision and GPS to lay down straight rows and place seed exactly where you want it.

There will be other demonstrations throughout the day including baling straw, harvesting corn, pressing apples, combining flax and threshing oats.

The buildings and exhibits will be open as well, including the old Peddlers' Grove, school house, feed mill, farm house and barn among others.

Then on Thursday, September 15, the University of Minnesota Southern Research and Outreach Center just outside Waseca will host an open house from 4-8PM. A free picnic supper will be served from 4:30-7PM. There will be door prizes and the opportunity to sample and purchase University-made meat and cheese. Goldy Gopher will make an appearance as well.
